Job Opportunity in your area! “TELT usage Audit”

Subject: Need help filling a temporary Level 3 position for Faculty TELT Audit

Hi Everyone,

A need has come up recently that I could use some help pulling together.  One element of the Faculty’s TELT Enhancement Plan (written by Sean Brawley) that I need to get on top of is a “second audit of TELT usage in the Faculty in 2011.”  I need to identify someone who can assist with this temporarily through December.

The position would extend to December on a Level 3 at one day per week (or equivalent).

The first audit by Gerry Nolan (2008) focused almost exclusively on Vista and Lectopia.  As most of you realise that’s not particularly indicative of the realities across the faculty.  Some people are using blogs, wikis and digital media; some people may perhaps be using virtual worlds; other people may be using stuff we’re not even aware of.

The logic for looking to EMPA to fill this position is EMPA appears to have the largest proportion of home-grown systems relative to other schools in FASS.  Having someone who knows the local school culture could potentially be really helpful in locating the stuff that’s being used under the radar.

The point here is certainly not to pull people up for using unauthorised systems (if there is such a thing) – hopefully you all know me enough to know that I encourage this rather than discourage it.  Rather, it’s to identify what real usage is going on (where, what, and how) so we can determine what needs we should be better addressing in terms of support, prof dev, etcetera. [It’s also an indicator of relative progress – or lack thereof].

This role would help identify what’s happening in the faculty and help compile the data so we could create a benchmark for future reference.

Would you be willing to put your feelers out for people who might be interested in this role?  Sean is hoping to fill the position and get the person started as quickly as possible.

Please have them contact me for details or if they have questions.

Cheers,

Mike

Hello everyone in the School of English, Media and Performing Arts,

I am writing to you to let you know that the Australian Museum is
looking for students to participate in a program known as Agent 1 (
http://www.australianmuseum.net.au/blogpost/Are-you-the-next-Agent1 ) .
We are looking for a special ‘blogger agent’ - someone who wants to take
on a short mission for the Museum and its audience, and
blog/tweet/youtube the entire process as they go. The winning applicant
will become our Agent1 and win a free Sony Bloggie valued at $295.00.
Further information can be found at the web address above.

As a theatre, film and English student in the 90s, I thought students in
this School may be interested in the project.

Thanks for your time and please excuse the mass email - our deadline
runs out this week.

Regards,

Deborah White
